Holi is the festival of colours, love and spring. It is a festival of India. This day signifies the triumph of good over evil. Holi is a Hindu festival that has been celebrated since ancient times. People play with colours and enjoy each other’s company, they dance, party and enjoy their cultural norms. From the splash of gulal to the rhythm of festive vibes it’s all about joy laughter and vibrant celebration. Dry or wet colours can damage your skin. It is extremely important to protect the skin from colours that contain chemicals and from sun damage. Some skin care tips can protect your skin from damages.

Pre Holi Skin Care

Use of bleach or any chemical peels and laser treatments should be avoided at least five to seven days before Holi.

To ensure that the skin barrier is not compromised further we need to strengthen the barrier to avoid any adverse reaction.

Before playing Holi first use a hydrating cream followed by sunscreen, Once cream gets absorbed top it with the light oil to add extra protection which will also help later to take off colour from the skin surface. You can use Rosie oil, organ oil coconut oil along with sunscreen,

For acne prone skin with big acne pustules there are many acne patches available. It is better to patch these acne before playing Holi.

For your body you could use cold pressed oils with lightweight formulas.

Use natural colour made up of turmeric, beetroot, and henna.

Wear clothes that fully cover your body.

Post Holi Skin Care

After the Holi party don’t rush to take a shower let the colors dry out, and add an extra layer of oil all over the body and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will help to easily remove colours, otherwise it will stain the skins.

You can also use cleansing oil to remove color from skin.

Do not use abrasive crops or natural ingredients such as lemon which will mess with the pH balance of your skin.

Don’t have a hot water bath as this tends to further dry the body and then skin turns irritated and itchy.

After bath apply a moisturizer generously to ensure the skin remains hydrated

Hair Care on Holi

Avoid shampooing on the day of Holi. When hair is exposed to water its cuticle expands, and becomes vulnerable to damage and chemicals available in shampoo damage the scalp and hair becomes frizzy and rough.

Better shampoo your hair a day before Holi, then use a mild oil, you can use coconut oil on the hair to prevent color from entering the pores. Moisturizing hair and scalp will keep natural oil intact and add natural protective layers to the hairs.

Increase your liquid intake before Holi to prevent dehydration of the scalp.

Avoid going for any extensive hair treatments before and after the festival.

Tie up your hair and cover with a bandana for added protection

Wash your hair with cold water as warm water can solidify the colour. Use mild shampoo, and apply light hair oil to maintain moisture.
