Skin Diseases
Skin is the largest organ of the human body. It covers the entire outside of human body. Skin protects body against infection and extreme temperatures, maintains body’s balance of fluids, and even synthesizes vitamin D for our own personal use.
Causes of Skin Diseases
Some chronic skin conditions are present from birth, while other appear suddenly later in life. There are many different threats which can affect our skin and lead to different problems and conditions These threats can be external or internal.
Internal Threats – Drugs and Medication, Stress and Tension, Alcohol and smoking, problem in liver and in digestive process, Chronic Constipation, accumuation of toxins due to erroneous diet and living,
External Threats– Smoke, Dust and Pollution, Uv rays, Climate Conditions, wearing synthetic clothes or wet clothes, lack of hygiene and infections,etc.
Skin Problems and Conditions
These can be Cogential, Bacterial, Viral, Fungal, Pigmentation, and General. Some of the skin diseases are –
Eczema :- Found all over the body but most often inside the knee and elbow joints on the face and scalps. The skin becomes extremely dry and itchy and sometimes it bleed.
Psoriasis :- Inflammatory skin diseases characterised by red patches covered with silvery scales that are constantly shed. Size of scales vary from minute spots to quite large sheets of skin. Points of bleeding may occur beneath scales. Affects whole body or specific areas like face, scalp. Not infectious
Acne/ vulgaris :- Normally caused by hormonal imbalances which increases sebum production leading to blocked glands and infection. The skin has a shiny, shallow appearance with popules, pustules and comedones. It is prone to open pores where pustules have cleared there is often peeting and scarring. The main sites for infections are the face, back, chest and shoulders. Not contagious.
Boils :- Bacterial infection of the skin causing inflammation around a hair follicle.
Acne Rosacea :- Gives a flushed , redness appearance occurs on the face, this condition can be aggravated by anything causing vasodilation -heat, sunshine, spicy food, alcohol, cold. It effects both men and women especially menopause women.
Warts :- Small tumour found on the skin often on fingers and thumbs caused by viral infection highly contagious.
Tinea Corporis :- It is commonly known as ringworm and can be found anywhere on the body. Tinea Padis is commonly known as athlete’s foot, highly infectious.
Vitiligo :- A form of leucoderma an abnormal whiteness of the skin due to absence of pigmentation, begins in patches but may cover fairly large area ,most obvious in darker skins.
Albinism :- Complete lack of melanocytes resulting in lack of pigmentation in skin, hair, eyes sufferer have poor eyesight and extreme ultraviolet sensitivity. This is an inherited condition.
Chloasma :- Butterfly mark caused by pregnancy and the contraceptive pill, a pigmentation condition involving the upper cheeks, nose and occasionally forehead. Discoloration usually disappears spontaneously at the end of the pregnancy.
Freckles :- Small pigmented area of the skin which becomes more evident on exposure to sunlight and are found in greatest abundant on the face arms and legs.
Crows Feet :- Fine lines around the eyes caused by habitual expressions and daily movement, associated with ageing of muscles tissue. Premature formation may be due to eye strain and is often associated with oidma (swelling) around and under the eyes.
Dermatitis :- An allergic inflammation of the skin. Redness of the skin, itching and various skin lesions commonly known as contact dermatitis, there are many causes including plants, drugs, clothing, cosmetics and chemicals. These are not contagious.
Treatment of Skin Diseases
Some severe skin diseases need to be treated by dermatologist but some problems can be treated at home by some natural remedies and care.
Costipation, sleeplessness at night, staying up late at night, indigestion are harmful for your skin health.
Depending on the condition fast from one to seven days on juices (spinach, cucumber, carrot, cabbage, white pumpkin juice, etc. and coconut water) after one week as per requirement take uncooked food (fruit, salad, sproutes) for few days.
Avoid Sugar refined products tea.
Avoid too much spicy, salty, fried and sweet foods.
Daily skin care routine can reduce problems and keep your skin clean hydrated and healthy.
Soak fenugreeek seeds in water for 12 hours and drink it daily in the morning and evening. Eat basil leaves and figs daily.
On empty stomach drink neem(margosa) leaves water. It would be beneficial for healing pimples and acne.
For pimples margosa, mint, basil leaves, should be ground and mixed with multani mud and apply on face. Keep it for 10-15 minutes and wash it with cold waater.
Light execise and deep breathing in open air should be prcticed daily.
Do kunjal and Shankhprakshalana, yoga like Suryanamaskar, Paschimottanasana, Sarvagasana, and exercises daily.
